How to Get a Learner's License Online in Maharashtra (2026)
Everything you need to know to obtain your Learner’s License from the comfort of your home via Aadhaar-based authentication on the Sarathi Parivahan portal.
The Faceless RTO Revolution in Maharashtra
The Maharashtra Transport Department has introduced contactless, paperless faceless services for Learner’s Licenses. If your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar card, you no longer need to visit Wadala RTO (MH-03), Tardeo (MH-01), or Andheri (MH-02) to take your LL test. You can complete the application, watch the safety video, and take the online exam directly from your laptop or smartphone.
Phase 1: Online Application on Sarathi Parivahan
- Visit the official portal:
sarathi.parivahan.gov.inand select Maharashtra. - Click on Apply for Learner License and choose "Applicant holds Aadhaar Card".
- Enter your Aadhaar number and submit the OTP received on your mobile. Your name, address, date of birth, and photo are auto-populated.
- Select your class of vehicle (COV): LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) for car, and MCWG (Motor Cycle with Gear) for bike.
Phase 2: Video Tutorial & Online Test
- Pay the official government application fee online via net banking or UPI.
- Watch the mandatory 10-minute road safety awareness video.
- Launch the online LL test with facial recognition (ensure good lighting and no background movement).
- Answer 15 multiple-choice questions on traffic signals and lane rules. Score at least 9/15 to pass.
Phase 3: Downloading Your Digital LL
Upon passing, an SMS containing your Learner's License number is dispatched immediately. You can download and save the PDF version on your phone or Digilocker/mParivahan app.
